When I was young, I was told the best way to explore a foreign country was to lose your way and get lost in it. The night this photograph was shot, proved this theory to be true. Roadtripping across the southwest of the USA with friends, long after nightfall, and we were still in search of the campground we had booked for the evening. We found ourselves on a dark dirt road in northern Arizona and as we trundled along our headlights illuminated these stunning wild creatures. It’s often our missteps that usher us into the most sacred moments.
